World Autism Awareness Day 2012

Posted on

Today is World Autism Awareness Day. Our President issued a proclamation concerning the growing need for awareness, and the barriers that still exist. It is not enough. Our children need greater access to early intervention services. Today, 1 in 88 children will be diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder. My son is my face of autism.

About Flannery

Kid, husband, dogs, my mother, full-time job, maximum stress, minimal relaxation...sooner or later I had to vent. AND we moved from California to Texas. I could start a whole other blog about that.

  1. A proclamation is nice. Linking that proclamation to his budget allocating funding for all these grandiose, altruistic goals would be a lot nicer, but best of all was if the funding met the needs of individuals affected like our amazing children. Thanks for the link.

  2. Well said. There are NOT enough services. It’s fucking ridiculous that I don’t even have any services in my own city. I’d have to go to the next town over. I don’t live in hickville.
